List your location

Currently scouting for homes in all categories: Suburban, Country, City and Waterfront

Using your home as a shoot location can be a great way to generate some extra income, and there’s no fees to join.

To register your interest in being part of the red locations portfolio, first we need to see photographs of the space. You’ll need to include a selection of both interiors and exteriors so that we can accurately assess the location for our clients.

It’s important to send us wide shots of the rooms and spaces. Detailed photos of decor can make attractive images, but they do not show us what we need to judge the potential of the property.

Smartphone images are absolutely fine at this stage. We will re-shoot images as required.

What we look for.....

Our database contains a wide variety of homes from the architectural to the everyday, but we’re always looking for more!

Here are a few key features required to ensure success…

  • Access – level access is ideal. A couple of steps to the front door is fine, but large flights of stairs are a challenge for filming due to the amount of equipment needed – but less so for photo shoots. Street parking is essential, off-street parking is a bonus. Homes with street frontage sites are best for filming due to the need for equipment access. Homes on rear sites or with long driveways are fine for photo shoots with limited equipment. Feel free to get in touch and we can discuss what shoots your place might be suitable for.
  • Spacious – the bigger the better. Narrow hallways and small rooms make it harder to accommodate equipment and crew without compromising the shooting space, however compact homes can work for smaller shoots and photographic work.
  • Decor – attractive and interesting furnishings may be used as props, and a minimal neutral design is popular because it allows greater artistic flexibility.
  • Natural light – the ability to shoot in daylight is key, so large windows and ample light is important.

Offering your home as a shoot location can be rewarding in many ways, but you must be aware of the risks before venturing down this road.

Clients are always respectful of shoot locations, but no matter how organised a production team might be, accidents can happen.

Clients have insurance to cover them against any larger losses, but the majority of issues tend to be minor and are of course covered by the hirer.

red locations is a new agency, but we are not new to the industry. With over 20 years of location management experience, you are in very safe hands.

If we get an enquiry for your home we’ll make contact to check if it’s available, provide all the details and of course, discuss how much you will be paid. A day hire can be upwards  from around $1,000 depending on the nature of the enquiry and size of the crew.

As your agent, we guide you through the process, and answer any questions or concerns you might have. We arrange the initial site visit or “recce” and if the client then wants to go ahead, we take care of the negotiations and paperwork to ensure you and your property have the appropriate protection, then hand the client over to you for the shoot. We also manage the invoicing – we are a full service location agency.

If you want to go ahead, fill out the form below, upload some photos, and we’ll be in touch! If you have any questions, check our FAQ or send us an email.
